Maybe I'm being a bit paranoid but after reading "The world is flat" by Thomas Friedman, and “The confession of an Economic Hit man" I am beginning to think that the US is not providing the public with the whole story.

Is there a company that provides local channels from all over the world? I want to see what people at China are seeing. The same with India. Is there a company that provides such service?

Actually, financial news sources are some of the best (Bloomberg), as they lack the poltical spin and report from the money standpoint, since they make more money when they're useful, they try to stay neutral....although since they are corporate owned you still have to stay somewhat suspect. Its a tough choice.

There are websites on the net that link to newspapers all over the world, and a few of them are in english, so that should help you out.

And "prison planet" and the sites related to it are just silly. There's a reason they aren't respected.

One of my favorite sources is www.democracynow.org it is actually where I found out about confessions of an economic Hit Man they actually didn't a special two hour interview with john perkins. This news is ofcourse the extreme opposite of a popularity contest. They report only what oppressors don't want you to see. Some great interviews too.

On this site I learned that publicly traded companies have a legal obligation to maximize profits. So they can't air information that devalues their advertizers. I meantion this because even though it would be good to see what the average Chinese sees know they are just as biasedly fed information. I was in China for the Bush/Kerry election. After Bush won the New braodcaster announced that America votes based on looks and Bush won because he's more hansome. The Chinese people I was with translated this to me as if it was fact.

Canada's CBC, Britian's BBC, and Al Jazeera are all government funded without government control. Al Jazeera is available in English now too.

Try BBC News. I can't recall the date, but a couple of years ago the American embassy in Saudi Arabia was attacked by a group of terrorists or extremists, and at the time I was watching BBC News and they were broadcasting a live feed from the embassy. I immediately switched to CNN so I could see what they were reporting. They had no report, or at the very least weren't reporting on the story yet. For 3 hours I switched back and forth between channels, and there was nothing about the story on Cnn at all. BBC News had a live feed right to the very end. After the take-over was finished,I continued to switch between stations and almost 30 minutes after the story ended CNN finally reported on it. All they did was put a little "blurb" in script form at the bottom of the screen. Was I surprised?? You bet I was. Terrorists take over the American Embassy, and one of the biggest news outlets in the U.S. doesn't even report on it until it was resolved. Hmmmmm....
BBC news may not be your best choice for all the news that you may be looking for,but compared to what I've seen from most of the American news media, they are by far much more informative and seem to be totally unbiased in their reporting.
Good luck in your search for the real truth.

It's not just the news you hear, but how it is presented.

I never had such a wake up call as when I started turning off the network "news" and started watching Fox News. I like Bill O'Reilly's news analysis. He invites people with opposing viewpoints, and he gives them the final word.

By the way, I doubt the news reports broadcast in China are subtitled. You'd have no idea what they are saying.

You can also just go to websites like Al Jazeera and BBC News. However, be cautioned that you are getting a very, very slanted view of "the truth". That's why I like Fox News. On Hannity & Colmes, you have a Republican and a Democrat. You hear both sides.

Unless you have a killer satelite system and know several foreign languages, good luck.

Everyone in every country has the same problem. Everyone has their own agenda and own interest at hand.

You're just now realizing that? I guess it's better late than never.

All broadcast news is a total waste of time, as is most if not all national print news. When you find out the truth, Corporate news will just make you angry.
