Are you asking why or if we are a sovereign nation? Yes we are because we won our independence more than 200 years ago. They UN does not & must not be allowed to control us. That would be giving France, Russia & China veto over our foreign policy. No true American can accept that. I trust our leader a lot more than I trust the leaders of other countries.

Okay, the story goes that the U.N. is an animal without any teeth. In my opinion, this has to change. However, I consider it unlikely because logically, the U.S. has contributed the most to the U.N., and that carries a lot of weight when U.N. delegates hand out favors or sanctions. If the U.N. or a similar organization were able to become a free agency, with the co-operation of its member states, it would be a different matter. But until then, it's not much more than a puppet being controlled by a gaggle of puppeteers, with more strings than could possibly ever be cut.

I believe the Bush mentality is we have the big guns so we do what we want! But there are lines he can cross and I think one of them is Iran if he invades there without the UN the world will come down on us with real financial results (the only kind that matter).

the UN is stupid as sh*t...
we let them control the WMD inspections in Iraq for 13 years between 1990 and 2003.. and they miserably failed on everything...
they appointed an Italian professor who didnt even want to be a part of it.. he just wanted more promotions.. as the head inspector in Iraq..
the guy was reported by other inspectors to be a lazy stuck-up as*hole.. he never wore his backpack, which was protocol to NEVER take it off... and he talked to other inspectors about future inspections.. which they were NEVER supposed to do because the rooms in the hotel they stayed at were bugged by Saddam...
Screw the U.N....
several prime ministers of the UN were also found guilty of corruptly funding Saddam with cash in return for discounted Oil sales.. to evade the Oil-For-Food resolution the UN set on Iraq.
Saddam recieved $10.1 billion dollars because of this in 1996...
which PROLLY funded 99% of the WMD facilities Saddam rebuilt in 1996, which are now hiding in Syria...
remember the Oil-For-Food scam?...
So i say again... screw the UN!

UN is a corrupt agency.....that needs to be shut down......it's no good. They should at least move it to another country.....instead of the US.
