They may have been witches, but I doubt they were guilty of causing any damage to anyone. I believe it was wrong to execute them

I agree with you. There are quite a few witches these days. I am one myself. I think the reason why the witches aren't hiding anymore is because people have wisened up and stopped worrying so much about superstitions, omens, etc.

The "Christians" burned the witches because they were no longer under their control. Witches clung to a belief system of their own and the Christians didn't like it. They got all the town folk scared by making up evil stories about the witches. When you already have it made up in your mind that someone is guilty of something, your mind will psychologically see the "guilty" one doing things that normal people do and put a twist on it in order to prove you right. For example the so called witch may have been cooking dinner for her family and you would see that as brewing a potion. So No they were guilty of nothing other than love and being free spirited.

witches are coning out now? cool- hadn't heard about that... I don't think it was right for them to be burned in Salem, just because they were different. but, when people don't know why something happens, they have to make up and excuse and try to do something about it so they feel useful. In the case of witches in Salem, the people didn't know what was happening, so they started blaming anyone they could, and to feel like they've done something, they would burn them. So no, I don't think the witches were guilty.

I don't know much about witch craft or whatever, but no one deserves to die just because they are different that just makes them unique. Those Salem people where probably just afraid of what they didn't understand, and people have a way of doing the most horrific things when they are afraid or under presser, but in the time we live in society is more open to knew ways, theories, scientific facts on life and religion and so much more.

no one was burned in Salem, they were all hung except Giles Corey who was crushed with stones. It is possible that Sara Good and Tituba may have been "witches", but most were good, God fearing puritans. 2 young girls started the hysteria with tales about magic spells and it ballooned. The people in power got the property of anyone who was convicted of witchcraft so it was more for power than anything else. Part of the cause may have been ergot poisoning (which causes odd behavior and hallucinations) But over all they were not witches. Sara and Tituba were probably just knowledgeable about the use of herbs for healing, nothing more.

If you read the historic account of Salem, you will find that in the end, the young girls had made most of it up, and people died for nothing.

Remember than back then, if you knew how to help heal a sick person with herbs, or helped deliver babies and you were female, you could be called a witch.

Today, we call them doctors, they just have better tools and medicines now.

So what is wrong with that. They have been around just as long as anything else on this planet, the only people that should feel guilty are the ones that burnt them.

I believe that at that time most of those women were not guilty of witchcraft but merely being open-minded.

Although some may have been guilty, there is no real evidence to prove that though.

Witches aren't 'coming out' - they've always been around. Everyone was pursecuted at that time, scientists, doctors, the poor, minorities, anyone who looked at you funny
