My DVD player on my laptop is crap. I can barely hear the film etc over the annoying whirl of the disk spinning around. How do i make this quieter? I think you have to change the drive speed. Either way how do i achieve some sort of tranquility so i can actual hear my dvd/cd/video-cd??

You cannot change the speed of which the DVD plays but you can change the speed it writes by right clicking on the desired drive in my computer and then going to the end tab called recording and change the write speed. If you cannot hear the DVD then you might want to consider investing in some speakers i use a pair of iXos ones which i find very good you can buy them for £0.01 used and new or £3.95 brand new of Amazon.
Hope this helps

You can't change the speed at which it plays DVDs. There is only one speed for playing. You're thinking about the speed at which you can burn a CD or DVD, which you can adjust. There are few laptops with decent speakers. You can change the DVD drive and try a pair of headphone. Other than that, you can buy a better laptop.
