as the other person suggested, check your photocells, if you have them, for proper alignment. in this case though, it doesn't sound like a photocell problem if resetting it caused it to work once. to answer your question, yes the circuit board is easy to replace. remove 4(usually) 1/4' head screws to disconnect the board from the case. just to be sure you know, the board is under the plastic panel where you see the push-button wires connect. the board unplugs from the wiring in the motor with a quick disconnect plug. snap a new board in and screw it back on. make sure you test you safety revers settings afterward.
UNPLUG THE OPENER POWER BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, ELECTRICITY BITES HARD

on the back of the board is a part number usually starting with ...41a....
most door companies should have them in stock. prices usually about $60-$70. if you don't have photocells, those boards are no longer made but you might be able to find one if you make some calls. good luck.

ps: if it isn't the board, you might not be able to return it, electrical parts usually have that policy. if you have the same type of opener on another door, you could swap them to make sure that's the problem. it's only a 5-10 minute job

First check your sensors by the base of your garage door rails to see that they're not blocked. They are electric eyes that stop the door from moving if an obstacle (like a child) is in the way. A misplaced broom can cause the opener to do exactly what you are saying.
