Well, floating in a sea there is different proteins that lock together and rarely there is the exact combinations of proteins that creates life. Now this isn't as simple as it sounds, trust me. The chance of those certain proteins reaching the right combination in extremely slim. Think about how long earth was around before there was any life.

there's this theory that long ago, there was this huge magnetic storm that continued for many years, causing non-organic matter to become organic... i read it somewhere...
