There's quite a bit of scientific evidence that birth control pills don't make you gain weight, though some people find that they gain a few pounds, largely from water. You're just as likely to gain weight as you are to lose weight as you are to maintain your weight. Pills like Yasmin or Yaz contain a hormone that's less likely to cause the fluid retention that seems like weight gain for many people, but there's no one perfect pill. You may find that Yasmin makes you miserable but a different pill is fine, and so, the only thing to do is to meet with your health care provider, who will use your health history and concerns to choose a pill that is likely to work well for you, to try it for the recommended three months and if the side effects are too unpleasant to continue, then to change pills.

It depends on the person. When I got on the pill I lost weight. However, my friend got on the same pill and gained a few pounds. It normally isn't very much weight. It's worth getting on the pill.

Some do. Look for one that reports "low side effects". The weight gain sometimes isn't all bad. Had a friend who gained 10 lbs of breasts when she went on the pill.

i am taking DIANE-35 since lst yr and i didn't gain a pound becoz of this pill. it even cleared up my acne and regulated my menstrual flow. i don't even experience PMS and cramps anymore. mind you, prior to taking this pill im an invalid everytime my period comes. and its lighter and shorter. im even less hairier now... =).. my gyne says its the safest kind of pill in the market today.. btw its a combination of cyproterone acetate and ethinyl estradiol. you myt want to ask your own gyne about this pill too because you myt have an allergic reaction to this hormones...
