hallitube is confused. They are answering a question about JOSEPH--not Jacob.

Jacob's name was changed to Israel and he becomes the father of the Twelve tribes that would provide the lineage for the choice children of God. The Jews were ONE of these chosen tribes, not the only one, but one of twelve.

Abraham beget Issac and Issac beget Jacob.
Jacob (Supplanter or beguiler) was given the name Israel (God is thy helper or savior-I think-not sure?) and he fathered 12 sons:

1.Ruben
2.Simeon
3.Levi (Priestly Tribe)
4.Gad
5.Zebulon
6.Asher
7.Judea (Were the word Jew comes from.)
8.Benjamin
9.Joseph (Became two tribes counted as 1 Manasseh and Ephraim)
10.Dan
11.Issachar
12.Naphtali (Not in order of Birth.)

Thus Israel was the Father of the 12 tribes of Israel (all of them.)
The patriarchs (or Fathers of the nation) Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. If this was helpful 5 points would be gladly welcomed. God bless and good day.
