I would say that in the United States there has been a trend towards a lack of empathy. People can be very selective with their compassion. They may be compassionate towards those they like, but cold and cruel to those they choose not to understand. People's worlds are becoming smaller and they have less concern for their immediate neighbor. Compassion is sometimes doled out to make themselves feel good. Is that true compassion? Probably not. That may be why some people have the perspective that they see plenty of compassion.

Many people are, but not everybody. Some people still have compassion for others, and I'm very thankful for those people. However, very many people forget that there are over 6 billion people in the world, and every single person has their own story and their own personality, and you cannot generalize. More and more, I see people disregarding everybody else in the world, and making comments that they would not have made if they actually knew these people.

Not necessarily. It depends on the person and the place. I know that everyone in my school has compassion for the most part, but I go to a private christian school. I haven't had a lot of contact with people that aren't from my school. From what I've observed though, a lot of people have compassion and a lot of people don't I think it's been that way for ever.

DEFINATELY! There is almost no compassion in the world...except for maybe compassion between a few immediate family members. Other than that, it is nearly non-existent.

everyone seems to be out to "get their own", and in the midst of reaching each others goals , lives are effected along the way in good and bad ways like it or not. And some aren't aware of the bad affects. And sadly some just don't care. I would have to put a 50/50 on this one.

Yes, I do. More and more... ppl are getting that way. No one gets along, no one has respect for others, and like you say, theres not much compassion. Its sad.*
