Why do they sing the Canadian National Anthem before the NBA allstar game?

There are nba players other than from Canada so if they are going to sing the Canadian national anthem, shouldn't they sing all the national anthems of all the participating allstars?

Hello!!!!!! there is an NBA team in Canada called the Toronto Raptors. Also there use to be a team called the Vancouver Grizzlies whose owners decided to move the team back into the United States.

Singing the National Anthem has been a tradition that began in baseball during WW2, but the Canadian and American National Anthems are performed in both Canada and America when both teams are represented in a sporting event.

There is an NBA team in Canada, so the custom is to play the anthem from every country that has a TEAM involved in the game, but there is not a custom to play the anthem from every country that has a PLAYER in the game. It's kind of pointless though. I mean, is there even a Canadian born player in the game since Steve Nash is injured?

It's because the NBA has a team from Canada (Toronto Raptors). It is done on a regular basis for NHL games as well, since many of their games involve a team from the USA against a team from Canada.
