How serious do u think it is? Well, it all started out 4 years ago when me and my brother were jumping off of swings. Yeah I know pretty dumb. But I did it and landed on the side of my foot and colapsed. Well, I couldn't walk on it for like ...3 months. In total it hurt for 1 year non stop. Now it hurts on and off but now it really hurts.I was in a different country and/or contenent and didn't go to the doctor. Pretty dumb also. Well, after that it hurt whenever I just hurt it alittle it would hurt a lot. I'm going to the doctor but I have 2 wait for my mom to get back from a trip. What does it sound like 2 u? I also heard a crack when I landed. Does that mean I broke it? Is it possible that I broke it and it didn't grow back correctly? Do u think it is serious? Im only 12 FYI. What will they do to me? What are the procedures for this problem? Any Websites? I know im going to the doctor soon but what do u think they will do?

I fell and hurt a toe. It swelled up, and I didn't have insurance, so I did what anyone with a broken toe would do...I taped it to the neighboring toes (it was the "ring finger" toe (next to the pinkie).

Well, after 2 months, the swelling subsided (though the pain did not) enough that I could feel a lump. So I went in for Xrays. It was dislocated, and had "mended" (scar tissue) in this configuration.

Having no insurance, I had to PREPAY a $6,000 medical fee, wherein they anesthetized me, cut open my foot about 4 inches back, put a titanium skewer into the end of my toe and up to the "main toe joint" (the toe equivalent of the first knuckle in a finger). It has never worked properly since, and sticks down a 1/2 inch further than any other toe, it is very stiff, and throbs, esp. in the summer. After 3 years, it is calloused and stiff. Also, I had to pay an additional $500 to the doc (the anesthesiologist didn't "bill" until 6 months later).

All said, it was the STUPIDEST $6,500 I've ever spent, and it was quite painful. Had I gone for medical treatment within 48 hours, they could have relocated it without surgery. Surgeons are not necessarily artists. Their idea of "perfect" does not accommodate my desire to dance, hiking is going to be an issue, and I cannot "slip" into a cowboy boot or shoe with heels, because this "hang" toe sticks down and folds under.

I'm over 40, so...if yours hurts, I imagine you've had a lot of scar tissue build up on something that didn't heal right in the first place.

You REALLY need Xrays and/or an MRI to see what all is improperly mended.

Few of us readers are qualified to give you an accurate answer. Even those in the medical field would need to see an x-ray and examine your foot to diagnose the extent of the damage.

Trust the doctor that you will see. You don't want to be in constant pain, and it's time to have this taken care of. Don't worry so much! Even though you didn't seek medical help right away, more than likely there is something that can be done now to correct the damage.

Just calm down, and trust those who will give you medical care. Whatever "they do to you," during the "procedure for this problem," remember they are professionals and know how to make it as pain-free and comfortable for you as possible.

Good luck, dear.

You may have either a broken ankle bone or a dislocation or a sprained / torn ligament (the tough band that connects your muscles to your bones). Good news is, these cases are treatable. But you have to have it checked ASAP! The doctors will probably have to x-ray your foot and.....if needed....put your foot on a cast! Sorry dude... but it's gonna be cool if you have your friends sign on your cast!!!

Next time dude, when you get into an accident, call an adult or 911 immediately so as to prevent complications from your injuries! BE CAREFUL (and smart) next time!!

hm, you probably just cracked a bone or something, i'm not sure, but if it happened like a year ago then you'll prolly need some form of surgery on your foot.

most likely you broke/fractured it and it didn't heal properly because it wasn't set. Try and relax and just do whatever the doctor says needs to be done.
