Do you qualify for disability compensation due to your injuries? It sounds as if you need professional advice, maybe even from an attorney who can point you in the right direction. I am assuming there was a workman's comp claim filed.
I think there may be some type of "re-hab" training available for you, but I don't know how you should go about seeking it. I'm afraid I'm not of much help here. This is why you need a professional to answer your questions.

Do you have a voluntary retirement scheme(VRS) in your company? If yes, resign using VRS, get that lumpsum money and start a business. If there is no option of VRS, then, consult a lawyer and claim money from the company.

didn't you get a lawyer last year when you were injured. Work comp paid for it and there was money given for time off...whats the whole real story?
