Canadiens goalie Jaroslav Halak just got his first win in his debut with the Canadiens. I know he's a young Czech goalie. How's he doing in the AHL (I'm assuming AHL)? Can he be more reliable than Aebischer down the stretch now that Huet is out?

Anyone familiar with him and the Montreal situation, feel free to reply.

Jaroslav Halak's been doing pretty well for himself with the Hamilton Bulldogs. He is, in fact, the top goalie in the AHL with a 2.00 goals against average, 16 wins with the Dogs this season and 6 shutouts. He's also supposed to be very focused in his game and covers the net very well, as he's not a very tall guy. If the Canadiens can somehow bring themselves back into the playoff race, I think that Halek will be a big part of it. Aebischer, even at 29, is a tired goalie and they need a fresh, new face to rekindle the fire in Montreal. They are one of my favourite teams and it's a shame to see them disintegrating like this.

I would not be surprise if Halak or Carey Price win the next Stanley cup for Montreal. Huet and Abby are only there until one of these two can make it to the big league full time.

He's having an excellent year in the AHL - i think he leads the their league in GAA. He played well against the Blue Jackets but of course the media here in MTL is already thinking he's the next Patrick Roy cuz he won his first game. I agree wtih RC - once he starts playing agaist much stronger teams - then we'll see if he's ready for the NHL. The habs need a centerman badly - goalies aren't the problem.

Well in his first game he faced 31 shots and won the game 3 to 2 versus the Columbus blue jackets however, that team is not the greatest, until he can get a win agianst a good team, then we will know how good he really is.

Yes, that kid is very comfortable goaltender. I need to understand why it's impossible to put him in my roster in Yahoo Fantasy hockey. Halak still unaivailable.
