Chris Cornell quits Audioslave

AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell has quit the short-lived "supergroup," citing "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences," he said.

Cornell, 42, who rose to fame with defunct Seattle rock group Soundgarden, will reignite his solo career with the May 1 release of Carry On, his second solo album.

"Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavours," the part-time Paris restaurateur said.

The Audioslave split was not unexpected. His colleagues, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk, have reunited with singer Zack de la Rocha to resurrect their former band Rage Against the Machine, which will play its first show in seven years at California's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 29. Rage's plans beyond this show are unknown.

Audioslave formed in 2001, a year after Rage broke up, and recorded three studio albums. In May 2005, it became the first American band to play an outdoor show in Cuba.

Chris Cornell could survive as a professional snowboarder. His solo album Euphoria Morning is awesome. Audioslave is the best supergroup ever. I am looking forward to his next album.

Cornell tried to make Audioslave sound too very like Soundgarden. Morello, Commerford, and Wilk ought to rock out, they are in a position to't be mellow like Cornell needed. i'm ecstatic that Rage is lower back. Rage is the $hit. i'm hoping they make a clean album quickly.

Cornell tried to make Audioslave sound too much like Soundgarden. Morello, Commerford, and Wilk need to rock out, they can't be mellow like Cornell wanted. I'm ecstatic that Rage is back. Rage is the $hit. I hope they make a new album soon.

Its really only Chris Cornell's loss. Rage instrumentalists can find another singer easily, i hope they get back with Zach. Or maybe Immortal Technique. I want to throw away all of my audioslave albums, what a waste of their time. they will be forgotten.

I think Chris will definitely do well as a solo artist. He is still one of the best vocalists and lyricists ever. His sound is more mature and less agressive as it used to be so I think it will bring in broader audience and new fans.

yes he will survive. i think enough people like his voice that he'll be okay. even if they don't buy it, he's already got enough money.
