Well I would argue that the statement is false since it's a stereotype, and base the main argument on that. Some women work harder than some men (you can give examples). Some men work harder than some women (again you can give examples). But you can't say all women work harder than all men.

However if your teacher's a committed man hater and dissenting opinions aren't allowed, then you're out of luck as I can't help you to reach a conclusion I don't believe to be true.

Women and men are "equal," and women are expected to do just as well as men. But women have a harder time because they are judged as women, and are judged on whether they keep their "femininity" while in the workplace. Think about Katie Couric--if she was a man, there wouldn't be nearly as much of a fuss over her new job. And besides being judged as a person doing the show, she is judged as a woman--when she wears skirts, are they too short? Should she really be wearing skirts to work? Isn't that showing too much skin? And she's judged as a mom too--shouldn't she be at home with her kids? Who's with the kids?? Men aren't fussed over for not looking good--or for looking too good, for being too frivolous. They aren't supposed to think about their children. Some good points, or so I think.

I don't see any problem with helping someone out with ideas!

In the UK women apparently would earn approximately £21,000 ($30,000) if they were paid for the work they do at home. This includes cooking, cleaning, child care, shopping and accounts. Bearing in mind that most of these women will be working full time as well, they are harsh statistics.

On top of this many women now have to work full time in paid employment too.

Research this on the net. Look for local employment agencies and find the average wage in your area for the following per day:

9 hours child care
2 hours chefing
2 hours cleaning
.5 hours accounts
.5 hours shopping

As an introduction I would explain the title of the essay, give your reasons why you may be for or against the arguement.

Topic is going in to detail as to why the arguement is being discussed, what are the problems with women earning less than men? I.e. some families now have the woman as the main wage earner because she can get a job and he can't.

The main idea should discuss the arguement in more detail. Include where you have done your research and why you chose to do it that way.

Topic sentences I don't remember from school, I don't think we did it that way, we probably just called it the body. I would suggest looking a little in to the feminist movement and sexism in the work place. Men have always earned more than women, and still on average do, and women have to generally work harder than men to achieve the same position in work, yet still not achieve the same pay. Why? Consider the fact that although men earn more things like the cost of housing means normally both men and women have to work in a family, and women have to work harder to keep the home running as well as do their paid job.

The conclusion should include your decision on why you agree or disagree with the title. You should also consider what other people would decide, would the public agree with you? Why?

I have included a couple of links below for you. I don't know if they will be of any use, but they might give you ideas on where to look next.

As with any homework, it really *has* to be your own work. If you get someone else to do it then the only person you are cheating is yourself. Having a little help online to know where to start is ok though, the same as years ago I would have asked my parents or the librarian!

More than anything, with any homework project you are given, try to learn something from it :)

EDIT: something else you could look in to is how hard women have to work to prove themselves in the work place. Why do some women feel they have to put in extra hours for example, in comparison to men in the same position in order to achieve the same wages or a promotion? Should women still feel this way? Is there a need for them to still feel this way or is it just stigma?
