Through most of human experience, the common person had a difficult life. Life expectancy was short. Work was hard and dangerous. Childbirth killed women more often than wars killed men, and that was often. Water was dirty. Sewage often not a consideration. Life stunk. While I'm not exactly pleased with today, I do know that I would have already outlived two common lifetimes in most of history around the world.

I would go back to before the War and advise people in the Confederacy about what mistakes they will make.but first I would work tirelessly to get the Southerners to realize that leaving the Union is a terrible mistake for all southerners, that slavery is wrong, even though it was basically states right they were fighting for,and their were many slaves in the north, just not AS many.that they must work with the feds,to make compromises.also advising people that leaving the union is just a bad mistake for everyone, the common people especcially.and not to do it.But I would of course defend my home state of South Carolina if the Yankees invaded,I would have to, it would be a matter of honour.and defense of my homeland and my family and friends.and neighbors.

I'll live in the future, about 50 to a hundred year from now. In that way, I can check records to see how my family and friends did in the past. And to use the technology, of course.

I would go to the beginning, because then I could be with my partner, no-one but us, we would live by our own laws.
Plus, there would be no problems to worry about.
Not for a few thousand years.

macedonia. around 336 b.c. Right after Alexander became king. Oh, I'd eat figs, olives, lamb, and grapes all day; drink LOTS of wine, have LOTS of sex with only the finest of noble suitors who would bathe me afterwards.
aahhhhhhh.
