I'm a veterinarian and wouldn't trade what I do for anything in the world. I love animals and helping them. My advice is if you want to be a vet make sure to keep your grades up in highschool and pay attention in your math and science classes. There will be times that you'll want to give up, I know there were several times that I was like"how is going through this worth it?" I've been practicing for over 20 years and now know why its worth it.

Don't give up and if its your goal then go for it. It's amazing but quite a burden to know you are the voice for the animals.

I'm a vet student..my father is vet and my grandfather was a vet. I've worked extremely hard to get where I'm at. It's been hard, many sacrifices, but the profession is a respected one. Though, against popular belief, if your looking to get rich best become a human doctor, because vets don't make an income porportional to their education. Studying in this field is great and it opens numerous doors, allowing you to change your mind midway through. Ex: for two year you could practice in beef and then decide to do research...or teach. I mean it's flexible, cause with the amount of knowledge you'll gather you'll have capabilities in all aspects of medicine. In times of crisis, vets are even called upon to treat humans. Now I must go, I have Cardiovascular exam tomorrow.
good luck and don't discourage

Im not, but if you love animals I say go for it, It is like surgery on animals, seeing them die, seeing them live, having them lick you and love you, good luck.
