Unless you are in severe pain, I think you can wait to see your regular doctor. Take an anti-inflammatory, such as Advil or Tylenol for the pain and swelling in the meantime. You can also apply ice.

Well it really depends on how bad it is. If its really bad and your unable to walk on it you could go to the ER. If you deside not to go see a doctor first thing tommorow morning....

Go to the hospital or call 911 if:

You have severe pain when NOT bearing weight.
You suspect a broken bone.
The joint appears deformed.
There is an audible popping sound and immediate difficulty using the joint.
Call your doctor if:

Swelling does not go down within 2-3 days.
You have symptoms of infection -- the area becomes red, more painful, or warm, or you have a fever over 100°F.
The pain does not go away after several weeks.

Anyway... You do have 2 go to the doctor and get the fluid removed. If there is fluid that indicates injury... Its up to you..

Good luck and I hope you feel better!

You must go as soon as possible to an internist for curing your hurt.If your regular doctor is an internist just go to him/her.Do not put until tomorrow, because you got a car accident maybe your ankle was hurt.Your doctor will know the exact medicines for it. I think you have a fluid in your ankle caused by an accident is different with a fluid caused by rheumatoid disease.

If you have fluid in the ankle get it checked now. To check for fluid take your second two fingers on one hand and press where you think you have fluid. If it leaves a dent when you press then yes you have fluid. If it doesn't make a dent then no you don't have fluid. Because it hurts so bad it would really be a good idea to get it checked out any way.

I agree with mlgable, that you should have it checked out. Keep all your bill receipts, you may need them later for the other driver's insurance to reimburse you (if the car accident was their fault).
If you have any immediate med type centers near you, that might be the way to go rather than going to the Emergency Room. Doctor's offices are going to be extremely busy tomorrow because it's a Monday, and most kids out of school also.
