Does that include utilities? That seems high.

I'm a landlord and I rent out a 2 bedroom apartment in Madison WI including utilities for $710 a month.

Uhh, the cost of living in Madison is comparable to:
Chicago
Portland, OR
Austin TX

It's not exactly cheap. But it isn't as expensive as NYC either.

That's a great price for Vienna, VA... The answer from somebody living in Wisconsin is way off... prices in Northern VA are outrageous.... most studio apartments in the Fairfax area start at well above $1500 per month... unless you want to live way out in Warrenton, I suggest you stay there at that price ! In some places near Vienna, parking spaces go for $200 per month !

WI has a lower cost of living rate than most states anyway. So, it's great to live there for those purposes, but otherwise it's not really appealing. It does, however, sound like you are paying too much for rent. I would probably be able to get a studio for around $300-400.

I live in Florida in the Tampa Bay area and my daughter and her husband rents a house About 7 miles from me. The are paying $800.00 per months for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house that has a living room, dining room and a play room plus the kitchen. $700.00 per month seems high to me.

$700 in Vienna is a STEAL. For those of you comparing to your own areas, you need to realize that this is one of the most expensive areas in the whole country. I think only NYC and LA are on par with our prices.
