It was given to me,they said they think their son left a game disk in it over night turn on. I'm just seeing if I can get it going again,

A disk left in the machine would not cause this type of system. If it doesn't even generate a notion of power, its most likely fried somewhere along the lines of the power supply board - kind of like the starter on a car. If it can't even get a spark to start, none of the other pieces will show any life. --- if you are getting some juice, check the harddrive connections - make sure they aren't disconnected.

One of the possible problems is the BIOS has been corrupted.

It could have been infected with Red Spider (although almost all A/V software can kill this annoying arachnid).

The mobo could be fried, or the CPU.

Or, the BIOS may have been reset is such away that it can't boot (i.e.: lowered the voltage settings)...

Sorry to say, but you have *alot* of tech work ahead of you.

Alternatively, after removing any CD's or DVD's in the drive, have the *original* owner send it into IBM for repair.

try removing everything non-vital to it booting that you can (floppy, CD, battery, memory upgrades,etc.) and see if it will boot up, dog
