Its weird isn't it ??
Point noted and
I'll definitely inform the drug stores to swap the locations..lol...

Actually I think this is a very good point though and personally I do believe that pharmacies are actually able to do this only if they learn to be a bit less commercial minded and more service oriented. And I believe this is also a very sensible thing to do as far far quality of life is concerned because elderly and sick people comes first and they need more care and nurturing and besides they're also not the ones who fancy to shop around unnecessarily unless ofcourse they really need something so there is no point exposing the entire store to them. Secondly putting cigaretts behind would actually make an anti-smoking statement that our society especially pharmacy (which is considered a health icon) doesn't encourage smoking. and I also think that due to this little inconvenience involved less people would be prone to pick up cigarettes on the way so less smoking and even less smokers !!

They do this because the pharmacy at the back is the one that measures out the drugs but the cigarettes are already packaged and ready to sell. And other reasons are is that people can kill them selves faster with prescription drugs.

They make people go to the back hoping they will buy other items they just happen to see. Notice Milk is at the back of grocery stores...this is called Marketing 101. Cigarettes are considered impulse items thats why they are in front by the registers.

Yes. That and the fact that drugstores today carry very little drugs, etc and a lot of everything else.

Yes, but that's where the cigarettes are kept. You have to be 18 or older to purchase tobacco. You need to have a perscription to get meds.

Yeah, because smokers are out of breath faster, you can't keep the smokes at a distance.
