Ann Rule is my current favorite. She writes true crime books. She goes into details to make you feel that you knew the victim.

I read a book a few years ago called the Devil in White City by Eric Larson. I loved the way he wrote. It was a non fiction book about a serial killer but the way he wrote it made it seem as though it were fiction. The bibliography was about 50 pages long with quotes through out. Everytime there was a quote in the book, it really was a quote. And the book was about something that happened in the late 1890s.

Terry Brooks. The Author of the Shannara Series, And out of all the books that I have read, there is more adventure than Hairy Potter, or the Lord of the Rings, It is a book that will suck in if you like to read those types of books

I love Lemony Snicket becasue he has a wonderful way of writing that combnes comedy, seriousness, and uses great language. I also love Louis Sachar becaue of the nonesense he writes, it is just enough to make you like reading at a young age. Jerry Spinelli is great too, he talks about things you can relate to and he teaches good morals! Wow....I have so many! I could go on and on

I think the best writing that I have ever read is probably in the works of Vladimir Nabokov- I have read many great authors, but there have been times when I have read Nabokov, and been completely amazed with the aristry of his prose.

Jane Austen bacause she pictured the life in her era so skillfully, and the conversation between her characters are quite witty.
Jonathan Kellerman, it's interesting to follow the thinking of his character, Alex Delaware, in solving the murder cases.
Tom Clancy. Need I say more? He's simply the best...

Jane Austin. She writes about people and lifestyles from the same circle she was from, so it is very realistic. Even though she lived in it, she could see much of the silliness. She is very sarcastic and witty in her delivery. (i.e. "It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.")

J.R.R. Tolkien and Catherine Marshall.
It's easy to fall in love with their characters. The authors give so many details about them that you can't help but feel they are real and you know them.
