Im having trouble getting my psp to get internet. I dont have a wireless router. Do I absolutely need one?

no you dont need one they make a devise called "wifi MAXX"
it connects to the usb port on your computer and sends a wireless signal to your psp or any wireless internet capable device
but it costs about 40 bucks and a "g" router cost about forty bucks so it would be smarter to buy the router if you have a broadband connection if you use dialup then the wifi maxx would be the way to go

Yes you need a router or are able to use someone Else's wireless connection but you do need a wireless connection hope i helped

If you want to surf the net and don't live in a hot spot then yes. To upgrade use the usb hooked up to computer and goto sony http://playstation.com

See if there is a unprotected wifi in your area to connect to, try it. Goto settings and scan for a signal.

Mine only works with a router, so I had to switch over. There may be a loop hole though.
