Is it possible for a 16 year old to apply for a position as a cook in a typical japanese steak and seafood restaurant?

Of course you can apply! You are 16, a legal age is work. But, I don't know if you can get hired, being 16. The hours are long, and must have some experience cooking in that kind of enviroment. Unless, you have a lot of experience with that type of food, perhaps?

I think 16 is the legal age for a job, at least in the state im in it is. Just as long as it's not over 25 hrs per week, if he goes to school, and past 10 o'clock PM.

It depends. Alot of the chain restaurants have a requirement of 18 for insurance reasons. You would have a better shot if you found one that is family owned and operated and not a chain basicly. But you should still ask at the chains just to make sure.

I suppose it would be, depending on the labor laws for the state you are in. They govern how old people have to be to work at certain jobs. Good luck to you.
