I can make two stops, one on Thursday and one on FRiday. Friday I should be fairly close to the San Diego area for a short drive on Saturday.

I'd like to stop a couple of places that would be fun hangouts; one on Thursday; one on Friday.

If I had that much time to get down to San Diego, I would take the Pacific Coast Highway (101) until Los Angeles, then cut over to the 5 and head to San Diego.

I would spend a night in Santa Barbara, then another in Oceanside. Santa Barbara is mostly a college town, while Oceanside is a military town. Different styles, but they're both along the coast.

Take your time on the road, it's the most beautiful drive I've ever been on.

Highway 101 all the way. 1st, beautiful Santa Barbara, my favorite CA town. The old Spanish mission is one of the best. 2nd, if you have the time, take a ferry from Newport Beach to Catalina Island. Lots of stuff to see & do in both places. Check the Net, you'll find dozens. You'll be less than 2 hours from San Diego in Newport Beach.

Disneyland's always a good choice for Friday, if you've got the cash to spend.

Thursday can be spent taking the long way down Highway 1 along the coast for spectacular views. (There are also camping grounds and RV parks on the way).
