Moraines are piles of loose rock detritus that have been transported and then deposited by glaciers or ice sheets.
Terminal moraines, also called end moraines, are piles of debris at the very front end of a glacier or ice sheet, marking its maximum advance.
Lateral moraines formed along the sides of glacier, from debris derived from frost shattering on the valley sides.
Medial moraines are in the center of a glacier and result from the merging of two lateral moraines where two glaciers merge.
Recessional moraines are mounds left by retreating or stationary glaciers.
These are all types of glacier moraines.
