All the Sony DVD's and VCR's I have had, have a selector switch to enable what you are asking. You just select 1,2 or 3 on both the machine and the remote. Or you can use one remote and select the appropriate number before operating the remote.

Hi Picky Paul,
You can control your Sony units independently only if at least one of them has a selection on the remote. Newer units can be set for "Remote 2" and the older unit can be operated with the old remote.
Check your manual to see if either of your units has a selectable remote.

Check the back of the units and see if they have the Sony Advanced Control interface built in. If they do, they can be wired together using a special cable and you can order a special master Systems controller from Sony that can independantly control them both.
