Because you are on the bodily platform. We are not these bodies, IE, race color, nationality, religion, job, mind senses, intellect, etc. WE are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. If one wants to see things as they are in reality then they have to realize this. The quickest way is to chant the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion) So what you are seeing is the illusion and that is why you don't care. Even animals and plants and bugs have a soul and one has to see super soul withing them also or it is all phantasmagoria.
