I would say anything with solid top between £75 and £150. You should not spend a load of money because you could end up not liking the guitar. Try looking into Washburn, Fender, Vintage or Encore.

Depending on where you live, and the guitar or music shops available for you, you should be able to find a good beginner acoustic for about $200 or less.

Make sure that the action is not too high (distance between the strings and the frets); also that there is no buzzing when you strum a first position chord like an E or Am.

If you can, take someone who plays guitar with you to tune it, strum a few tunes on the guitar, and then check the tuning. A big problem for beginners is a guitar that goes out of tune too quickly.

Don't be too hung up on brands. A good music of guitar store will offer several different brands in the lower price range. Sometimes "name" brands will offer introductory "kits"; please understand that a Fender or Epiphone guitar that you buy in one of these kids is not one of the high end instruments, although it is likely reliable enough....

I would agree that you shouldn't spend more than 200 dollars for a guitar. One thing I've noticed, is that if you go for the really cheap guitar, it might make learning a bit harder and definitely more frustrating. To drop a bundle of money for a guitar isn't a wise idea, as you don't know yet if you want to stick with it.

As far as brands are concerned...Epiphone, Fender, Dean are good brands. Check out www.musiciansfriend.com to get an idea of what is available and how much it's going to cost.

Good luck, and most of all, have fun!

For your first guitar I would suggest buying second hand, as you get more for your money, and every guitar as a novice will feel strange but sound the same. (If you spent £50k you would still sound poo to start) It will give you time to practise, build up your skill and interest, you sell it for about the same and then spend the big bucks if you love it, have the skill or best of luck have both!
I spent £20 on my first guitar, two months later spent £120 and then when I went prof a year later £600. Good luck!

it depends if you're looking at getting one guitar for life.. if so i personally wouldn't pay less than £300. But if you're not sure if you will always want to play the guitar, or if you're suitable for it then about £200 should get you a good one. Don't forget that you'll need to replace the strings as well.. and then there's the accessories like a capo and a guitar stand, Plec, etc. etc.

Im a beginner I own a left hanned fender. cost me 165 pounds.

Most of the websites will tell you that cheapest isnt always the best, and that beginners shud be looking around 100 - 150 pounds.

Google ´Dawsons music store´ thats where I bought mine, they were great help with advice and ordering.

Good Luck!!

Two hundred to may four hundred is a reasonable amount. You should get a Fender. I have a electric Fender strat. Fender's awesome.
