I want to game - most likely at 1280X1024 or maybe one resolution higher, but at maybe maximum settings graphically. I want to combine the GeForce 8800 GTS card with one of these processors. I'll probably end up getting a second 8800 GTS and running SLI, but which processor? Is it REALLY worth all that much more?

-Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 @2.67
-Intel Core 2 6800 extreme edition @2.93

Dude.. the difference in price is that of twice..
totally depends on your needs..
do you really want a monster of a computer..
is it worth it.. maybe.. maybe not.. depends on your needs..
rest assured.. 8800 SLIed and E6700 will give you peak performance in all current games and most likely all games in 2007 as well..

No, in fact I would get the E6600 at 2.4. These processors are very easy to overclock, so you could quite easily run the E6600 at 3.0Ghz and be faster than either of those, so save yourself some money there and get an 8800GTX.
