I am in my first year of high school. Since the first week of school I have been very depressed and cry almost every night. I am only now asking my parents to switch to a different school. I have a few arguments ready, but I am afarid if they say no what I will say, or for that matter what I will do. Any ideas on good arguments? Thanks a lot

Tell them that you don't think you will get as good an education at this school. Make it about your education and don't bring up any personal issues that you may have with the school. My parents would have gladly changed schools if it was my education that was the problem, but with personal issues i was just told to work it out for myself.

Are you sure it's the school? What if, it's you. Ask your former friends if you did anything wrong or if there's anything in your attitude they didn't like, maybe you could change it. If it's really the school you can tell your parents about how you feel at school and ask them if maybe you can move. You also have to take into consideration the money your parents are spending.

Think of what you want from your school (it's also something colleges expect you to know) and which of those you aren't getting. That might also help.

I know the situation you're in. I'm the same way. What it usually is with parents though is a money issue.

best way to covince your parents is with a buissness presentation. gather info about the school(s) you are wanting to go to. print out all the good things about the school. e-mail the principal(s) and ask about their school. when you have all your info together put it in a binder with paper protectors. sit your parents down and say"i think we need to talk" then hand them each a binder with the info in it. it would also help if you dressed the part. hope it all goes well!

Do what I did and convince your parents that the environment at your current school isn't conducive to learning. Worked for me.

Have you already approached them about it. Just ask them, explain to them how you feel. If they are unresponsive, check with the school counselor, maybe if things are really bad they can help.

You just have to explain to your parents, Mom I need to switch schools. I really don't like it there. Haven't you heard me cry? Can you please think about it?
