In 2006, legal immigrants to the United States number approximately 1,000,000 legal immigrants per year of which about 600,000 are Change of Status immigrants who already are in the U.S.

Contemporary immigrants settle very predominantly in seven states: California, New York, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Illinois.

FYI: The number of legal immigrants rose from about 2.5 million in the 1950s to 4.5 million in the 1970s to 7.3 million in the 1980s to about 10 million in the 1990s.

Believe it or not since so many come in illegally the US actually has legal immigration quotas from every country. Most get completely filled up. The only ones that don't are the quotas for Western European countries.

Of course, half the country of Mexico has snuck in here because they have a horrible country. People from all over the world are trying to get in to the US. Millions and millions.

Absolutely. You know the whole debate about illegal immigrants from Mexico and whether the US should use the military to patrol the border, build a big wall, etc.? That's an example.

Yes indeed there are. Plenty of people want to immigrate to America because it is a free country. Some people discourage this, though, while other people think it is a fantastic idea. It is still happening today, especially in Cuba.

It is happening today and in herds. But the regulation standards are so high today, it takes 2-8 years to be able to legally enter.

I'm sure- which country can we americans go to when usa resembles a third world? how about switzerland or we take over cancun-mexico..it seems no mexicans would mind -as they all want to be here

Yes they are, as well as Americans immigrating other countries like Canada etc.. What is wrong with that??? God doesn't put any Bridges to go to him...

yes......my coworkers brother is trying to come from Africa and another coworker has relatives in Mexico that are trying to come here. One of my friends has relatives somewhere in Europe that want ot come over...........another friend has her friend that has family trying to get here from Iraq...........so yes people are still trying to come here from around the world.
