I don't understand what you mean by "without getting back at someone", but just laugh if off for what it's worth and move on. If someone else has embarrassed you, just laugh about it, but don't lower yourself to their level and try to get them back (which is what you obviously already know). If they keep it up, just go somewhere else, and choose not to be near that person when possible.

Laugh at the situation and move on. It's not the end of the world and there are more pressing needs to be addressed.

Remember that we all humans prefer that something first happen to you rather then themselves and thats allright

Next time you know what can happen on a situation that already happened to you , and don't be ashamed ,laugh about it,because you will now that it feels good when you feel good about yourselve no matter what

Have more self-confidence, be more self-assured. Then you won't be embarrassed as easily and you won't need to ponder ideas of revenge.

Just move on and if they can't accept you and understand you make mistakes too, then they are not worth it.
