I'm doing a project on making a picture book that children can understand. I have to create it with one of the following topics: trails west, the discovery of gold, manifest destiny, or the battle of the alamo. Which one would be easiest to make a picture book on? Do you have any ideas to help me?

I'd definitely cross manifest destiny off your list...I really don't think there's a good way to put that into pictures. Probably the trails west or discovery of gold would be easiest. With the trails west, you can look up specific trails, such as the Oregon Trail...there's bound to be historical images somewhere out there that you can make into kid-friendly drawings.

The discovery of gold would be easy, if it's in reference to the discovery in the 1800s, such as the California Gold Rush. Then just like above, you can do some pretty easy research. If it's prior discovery then....eeh..I'm not sure.

Good luck!

Trails west! You could show how the pioneers traveled and what supplies they had to take along. You could also depict different landmarks that were key to many of the western trails, especially the Oregon Trail, such as Chimney Rock or the Snake River. Also, picking something like the trails could run like a story - you could approach it from maybe a single family's point of view, from their jumping-off place to their destiny. Kids love journey stories (as well as pictures)!

There's also a ton of information for yourself to use to make the book.
This sounds like a really fun assignment. I wish you the best of luck!

Cheers! :)
