You know, I don't know if the linked showed up correctly, but I was apalled by the last answer that I recieved. It suprises me how this person has the audacity to say that I am subconsciously stuckup bc I choose not to have the same mannerisms as them. The thing about this situation is this... I would be alot friendlier to these girls, however... it is kind of hard to do this when you are getting go to hell looks from the majority of them. The only reason I talk down on their behavior is bc of the fact this very behavior keeps the stereotype alive of black females. These things make other races and ethnicites see us as the bottom of the barrel when it comes to dating. So, if that last person (who posted an answer) wants to see me as stuck up.. that is fine.. however, I am going to continue doing what I do. I am not the 1 who is being rude.

All of the people so far who have answered my question really have helped me. I am just trying to get people to understand, and as they all say knowledge is indeed power. I go to college, and I am truly saddened in what I see. I see females who spend more time playing games instead of going to get and education. Their main motive is to see who can look the cutest, and a lot of times this motive is what causes them to end up leaving the first semester. I am not sayng that everyone who wears weaves and stilettoes to class is not serious about their studies, but nine times out of ten.. these people will not be with me next semester.

To the last person who answered this question, when I say "them" as you put it in quotations.. I mean nothing by it. How else would I describe if I wanted to say everything in the correct grammatical way. NO I am not arrogant or whatever you said in your answer. I just know for a fact that, that kind of behavior will not be tolerated in a a business type of environment. I have an uncle who has a white collar job and I know for a fact that loud obnoxious behavior is not acceptable. So, arrogance my ***.

I had walked into this question and I had to go back to part 1 to see what all the buzz was about. Seriously I completely agree with you. Not all females in weaves and stilettoes in class arent smart but I know who you're talking about. I was similar to you also, I graduated high school at 16, college at 20, and Im now a grad student. I had the same problem when I was in high school, more college ironically- you would think that people would have a more mature mentality. I felt like some girls gave me nasty stares because I was different. I listened to the same music they did, went to the same parties, and also was into attractive men but my school ethics were different. I think that it was more of "If she looks like she can hang with us, then why isnt she?" , because I noticed that they wouldnt bother the girls that hung out with white people and they wouldnt stare nastily at the black girls that looked "nerdy", because Im pretty, and dress accordingly, and listen to the same music but not clinging to them, there must be something wrong with me.

This is a problem but I realized that its just who they are. You cant expect them to change overnight. And as for the female who made the last comment on part 1, she's right also..(i had to think about it for a while) because somewhere inside you, you know that 5 or 10 years down the line you may be more successful than they are, so in some ways you are kinda stuck up...but you know what honey, there aint nothin wrong with that. You just gotta DO YOU- because remember you're going to school for an education, not to worry about who's looking at you left and right. And yes, if we are undivided as a group, we will never advance as a group, and thats why you are here because you are an example of how a black woman can be successful like any other group by using just your brain. Its funny because we can be really proud of a black celebrity because we're seeing someone of our image in high society, but when it comes to our own neighborhood or community, you cant possibly be doing better than me because you look just like me so I should be doing well too. Remember this (for general purposes), you are like an ambassador to your country that you represent. If you show people how great your country can be then they may just visit one day or tell everyone else how great your country is. But if you dont represent your country well, then of course, people will have very negative things to say.

Dont worry, you're not alone on this one. There's a lot more people that have the same views than you think.

Sweetie don't worry about what others think. There are always going to be people who don't like you regardless of their race but you weren't put on this earth to please them or be their friend just do what you do and hopefully the best will come from it. I can relate though because you seem very similar to me cause I don't do a lot of things that you'd Think the "typical" black female would do or whatever but I don't worry about that cause honestly it's not my problem it's theirs because if they don't like me because of the way I talk or dress or carry myself then so what but you do need to learn how to stand up for yourself or be more assertive.

Your referring to other African Americans as "them" this right off tells me that there may be some thing going on within you that your not fully aware of.....

Guess what some of the most "stereotypical" black females I have ever met, were some of the brightest people Ive meet too.....so as you said, why are men attracted to "them" could it be the laid back, go getter attitude without arrogance ?

Like my mama says, you can't fight jealousy. So the best thing I can tell you to do is to have some true friends and keep reaching your goals. I have experienced something similar but I just try to stay focused and remember that I can't waste my time worrying about haters because that would stop me from doing what I am supposed to do.
