I've been looking at derelict buildings in London (or specifically, at websites with pictures of them on them!) for a few years now, with a view to eventually buying one and converting it into a theatre. Does anyone know how one might go about buying such a property? How do I find out who owns it, what rough prices are etc? Any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

you can find out who it belongs to here -

http://www.landregisteronline.gov.uk/

they charge a small fee (£3) but will give you the name and address of the owner.

sounds really exciting - good luck with it x

Check the land registry. But beware you may have difficulty getting a mortgage and the surveyancing may also cost a lot. Other than that I wish you luck mate, nice to see someone interested in property to do something artistic, and not just as a buy to let fast buck.

bypass to the close by actual sources tax workplace. There, you will locate the present sources barriers for the construction and a connection with the deed moving possession to the present proprietor. in case you reference *that* checklist, you will locate the subsequent previous proprietor... and a clean sources description. etc, etc. The assessor's group would be greater desirable than satisfied to help. From the checklist of names you get fmo this Chain of call, you are able to then hit your close by libraries and historic societies to work out if something pops up. sturdy success!
