I am going to Las Vegas soon for the first time. Can anyone tell me the taxi fair (approx) to get from the airport to the strip? Or should I take a bus or prearrange coach transport? Many thanks

$10 to the south strip hotel cluster at Tropicana and LV Blvd S. $15 to the center strip hotel cluster at Flamingo and LV Blvd S
$20 to the far north end of the strip >these are all approximate it's going to depend greatly on traffic conditions.

You can get to the strip for $2.50(24 hr pass) if you take the CAT(bus) - Catch the #108 Paradise or #109 Maryland Pkwy North bus from the airport and transfer to the #201 Tropicana W or #202 Flamingo W bus to get to the strip. You can board the bus if you carry no more luggage than what the airlines allow as carry on. To catch the bus from the airport, walk toward the baggage claim area, just before you get there, on your right is a escalator down to "Ground Level Transportation 0" go out the doors, the bus stop is to your right. Between the 108 & 109 they stop every 10 minutes or less. Considering the fact you can often wait in line for 30min to an hour to catch a cab from the airport the bus can often get you to the strip quicker for less..>during large conventions and special events it can take over 2 hours to get a cab.

The shuttle busses are going to cost you around $7 > you have to wait for one that's going to your group of hotels, and if you're the last hotel on the drop off list this can take quite a while.

I always catch the bus, and even when I'm going to the far end of downtown "Main Street Station" it takes less than an hours time from McCarran to the hotel. I'm checking in while others are still standing in line to catch a cab at the airport, and it only cost me $1.25(no transfer) instead of $30 for a cab

this is a great source for LV info

It'll cost you around $10 - $15 for a taxi depending on which hotel you're staying at. Most hotels no longer provide free shuttles to and from the airport but will if you call ahead arrange for limo service which costs considerably more. Don't listen to the advise telling you to rent a car, the streets are a complete ZOO! You won't need one anyway as you can walk to just about everything.

If you get a taxi to the strip make sure they don't take you through the "tunnel" -- it's a long way that ads on $$ to your fare.
Easier than a taxi are the shuttle busses to the strip that take you for like $8 each way. They leave every 10 minutes or so and there are about 5 different companies.
When leaving baggage claim, you'll see them out there.

Well, all of the hotels you have chosen are reasonably close to eachother and are at the south end of the strip, perhaps that is why you chose them. MGM Grand is one of my favorite hotels, I absolutely love that hotel. The rooms were amazing and comfortable, and most importantly (to me) the rooms didn't smell like smoke. The pool is amazing, the restaurants are great. I have never really seen any celebrities there except for Kurt Thomas and I assuming he was in Vegas because he was traded the day before :) It is the the last stop on the monorail on the south end and quickly connects you to the rest of the strip. New York New York has an amazing casino. I love everything about the ground floor. I have heard the rooms tend to be smaller at this hotel. Mandalay Bay is amazing. One of the Southern most strip hotels with mini monorail connecting to Luxor and Excalibur. The hotel in its entirety is amazing. Good pool. Luxor gives me vertigo, I will probably never stay there. But the clubs are good. LAX is popular for celebrity sitings. You may even see Carrot Top on any given day! : ) My pick: MGM grand!

There is a minibus service that is right out the fromt of the airport that costs a few quid, this is the cheapest way to get there, they run every few minutes or so and drop you off right outside your hotel. You buy tickets just before you get on, the ticket office is right outside airport, you wont miss it. Have a great time it is amazing there.

If you have a hotel booked, they may run a shuttle service, too; check with them. Often, this "hotel shuttle" service is free.

If you rent a car, BE CAREFUL. Within the space of 12 hours, my husband and I witnessed/saw the remains of four accidents. We're lucky we weren't accident victims ourselves, as a chunk of crud in the street punctured our tire. Very busy, very crowded place. If you don't have to drive, I recommend you save yourself the stress. There are many ways to get around, many of them fairly cheaply. Ask at your hotel.

Vegas is fun; have a good time!

A shuttle could take a while if your hotel is last on their list. A taxi is more expensive but they should take you directly to the hotel.

Not sure about you but after 11 hours flying I dont mind paying a little extra to finally get to the destination a little faster.

If you can try to avoid taxis...they are crazy drivers...they are so bad they have special police officers for taxis
