There are lots of ways you can go about doing this. First and foremost, you should take some classes before you actually get on stage or in front of a camera. I'm not sure where in NY you are, but if you're anywhere near NYC there are hundreds of classes and workshops you can go to. You can also look into summer workshops and theatre camps so you can get a taste of what it requires. If you go to a public school, you can start by asking your drama teacher for suggestions. Also, try nearby colleges/universities to see if they offer any sort of scene study classes during school vacations.

Hi , I'm 11 yrs. old and I'm just like you, except I live in Glendale,CA (LA county).Whenever I sleep I always pray for it. Whenever my eyelash falls, I pray for it. Here's what I've found out:
Since you're 14 yrs old, I bet you'll probably want to be on Disney Channel.Ther are 3 things you could do:
1) You should ask parents, family, and friends to see if they
know anyone who works in Disneyland or the Disneyland
resort hotels. Not just anyone who works there, employees
that are CLOSE to whomever you ask. I know that there is no
disneyland in NY, but it doesn't matter. Get in touch with the
person you know who works in Disneyland or resort hotels.
Ask them to request you to their boss for an acting career.
Then, get your parents in touch with the person's boss. That's
pretty much it. Tell me how it goes!
2) Another thing you could do is call disney channel.I researched
their number on disneychannel.com for you: Just call the
JobLine at (407) 828-1000 and press "1". You'll hear all about
the exciting roles they have available. You'll also have the
opportunity to speak directly with one of their Casting Agents
who can answer any questions you might have.
3) You can also go to this site:
http://corporate.disney.go.com/careers/auditions_wdw.html
I hope my information helped!!!!

Look up the Actors Studio. They have the best reputation and are in New York. Start going to auditions and attending acting workshops.
You can find lots of off-broadway and little theatre projects and also film students at Columbia and other schools will be looking for actors to work cheap (if not free).
And with practice, practice, practice, you might find yourself opening Carnegie Hall.
Good luck.

It's nice that you have something in your life that you really want. myself? I've been wanting to act for 10 years. I'm currently 17. It's very hard to get into unless you have deep connections but do not give up. I've come close many times in the last ten years. I'm never going to give up and honey you shouldn't either. Don't let other fools get you down. Hold on to your dream until you get it. That's all there is to it. I'm sure you'll be great :]

start by going to your local community centre to find out about groups and classes you could attend or maybe your local theatre could help point you in the direction of a good drama club or society

Believe me a lot of us pray for that stuff and dream about it (for example I want to be an actress, singer, dancer stuff like that) but it's not going to happen to all of us.
