I'm doing a project on making a picture book that children can understand. I have to create it with one of the following topics: trails west, the discovery of gold, manifest destiny, or the battle of the alamo. Which one would be easiest to make a picture book on? Do you have any ideas to help me?

I would do the discovery of gold. Use animals to get a child's interest (ex. dog, cat horse, bear). Just my opinion, good luck.

I live in Texas, so I'd pick the Battle of the Alamo.

You could have a picture of the United States and Mexico, a picture of Texas showing where San Antonio is, and create pictures from the Ballad of the Alamo song.

You could even play the song if you have a presentation.

You can find it here: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/rbrandt35/html/ballad_of_the_alamo.html

I think it would be fun to do like a mini little house on the prairie type thing, about the westward movement. You could also do a cute story about the Gold rush. Either way keep it cute and simple. Have something that interests little kids, like family and adventure, etc. The key it to make sure they can understand it and relate.
