No, it is not healthy, there is too much fat in regular meat. Fat is very detrimental to fish. When you look for fish food, always buy the flakes lowest in fat.
Protein is what fishy carnivores need. BettaMin flakes by the Tetra Co. is what I feed my crowntails. It has 48% protein. You should also treat him with frozen brine shrimp and bloodworms. He will love you for it.
I do not feed any pellets to my bettas, I believe it causes them digestive problems. I do feed pellets to my larger fish (African and south American cichlids) because they are able to deal with crunching the pellets up better.... IMHO.

I don't think it will survive long on just ham, in fact I would stop giving it the ham right away, even if it won't eat anything else. If it still won't eat its fish food after a few days try some bloodworms, bettas love them and they are a much healthier treat than ham. :)

Nope, not a good idea at all. It will return to eating fish foods in a day or two and that's what you should do. Feed it mostly flake or pellets but offer your betta some blood worms, brine shrimp, daphnia and the like every so often as well.

Everybody loves variety, so ween it off the ham that has presevatives and stuff probably not good for the betta, if it gets hungry it will eat what you give it...my friend had an alligator and fed it dog food which it loved and it died...perhaps they don't get to read the labels and learn whats good for them...so you need to do it for them.

Technically, Bettas are insectivores. If you want to feed him correctly use frozen brine shrimp, mosquito larvae, daphnia,or in warm weather the live versions of these. Ant eggs are very good fish food when you can collect them. Some of the smaller species of white worms are also good, but very rich ,and should not be a fish's sole item of food.

Ham is a big no no,if you want put some small guppies in the tank if the fish gets hungry enough it will chase and eat the smaller fish.I would still go with tying the dry worms that fish seem to love.
