Yes, goats really will eat paper. I own three goats, and they have eaten my papers many times. The saying that goats will eat anything is very much true; in fact, one of my goats even ate a rock. They probably shouldn't eat paper (so don't feed them paper on purpose), but it won't hurt them if they do. Goats are very hardy animals.

Goats will eat the paper off of a tin can because they want the glue. It would be very bad for a goat to eat paper if it is your homework assignment.

I'm going to somewhat agree with Sir_wakekek except for one point. While his science is firm I do have to add, it really depends on what type of paper it was. I've been raising goats a while and have seen them eat alot of things they shouldn't, but paper gets me worried. Newsprint, loose leaf, paper bags, ie cheap paper isn't all that bad. Glossy magazine, waxy, plastic bonded paper is very bad. If the paper cannot be broken down small enough mechanically (Chewing) then there is a potential for blockage.
A key symptom of this is bloating, poor appetite, straining to defecate, and listfulness. Depending on how much paper was ingested affects treatment which could be as serious as surgery.
One of my rules is, if they can eat it they will so pick it up.
Hope this helps, good luck.

They will eat paper and it WOULDNT be a problem for them, same goes to horses and cows. they are herbivores which are classified as Ruminants...the can chew food repeatedly over hours by regurgirating it from their stomach to their mouth.
paper is just basically "cellulose" (made up of straight chains of beta-glucose), which is the constituent of cell walls of plants.... eating paper is just like eating "processed" plants (leaves, stems etc)...
it wouldnt be a problem for them to eat paper coz they have a specialised kind of digestive system that has 4 compartments, compared to just 3 in humans. this specialised digestive system has a unique bacteria that breaks down cellulose. this helps the digestion of leaves(paper) by ruminants. however, humans and other mammals that are not ruminats cannot endure the prescence of these bacteria in their digestive system, so if we had those bacteria, we would die or get ill.

yes, they will if you let them. Small amounts of paper won't hurt anything, but it shouldn't become a staple of their diet!
