First put all the numbers in a form so that you can compare their sizes. You can either convert them to decimals or you can put them over a common denominator.

- 2/5 = -0.4 = -144/360
1/6 = 0.167 = 60/360
7/8 = 0.875 = 315/360
- 5/9 = -0.556 = -200/360
3/4 = 0.75 = 270/360

Now you can easily compare them and put them in ascending order:
- 5/9 = -0.556 = -200/360 (smallest)
- 2/5 = -0.4 = -144/360
1/6 = 0.167 = 60/360
3/4 = 0.75 = 270/360
7/8 = 0.875 = 315/360 (largest)

-5/9, -2/5

Negatives are the lowest. Cross multiply. -25 is lower than -18

1/6 3/4 7/8

Just cross multiply to know which is bigger

so it's
-5/9, -2/5, 1/6, 3/4, 7/8
