In addition to the above, there are many other oat products.
Try tomatoes (lycopene) and olive oil. They're tasty and will lower your bp.

Oatmeal is gross:) Try to keep getting it checked for free such as community screenings, parish (church) nurse, or the pharmacy so you know your range and can make sure you are not getting worse. It is possible the high blood pressure is a result of something else or a symptom of something more complex.
Reducing sodium and increasing exercise are a great start. Increasing potassium also can help, but if you have no idea about your overall health, go easy on the potassium. Foods that provide it include bananas, avacados, and potatoes. Some light salts are made with potassium and are lower in sodium, which is what you want.
Try an overall approach that is healthier. Eliminate fast foods and try to eat more wholesome. That doesn't have to be oatmeal, but find somethings that are less processed-raw fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads (check fiber, calories, and nutritional content), and drink water. If you are a smoker or consume caffiene, try to reduce and make a plan to stop.

Oatmeal is nonsense!!!! It is good nutrition but it can only raise your blood pressure! For the following reasons:
High blood pressure, in the majority of Americans, is caused by a hardening of the arteries. It usually comes together with high cholesterol but it is not its cause, just another symptom of something called "hyperinsulinemia", which is a medical condition studied seriously only in the last 15 years, many doctors are not familiar with it. I am a fitness trainer and studied it together with an MD who specialized in Preventive Medicine.
It is possible to reverse it if you severely cut back on simple carbohydrates and sugars.
If you don't, you are in serious danger of contracting diabetes type II later in life.
1)Exercise daily, for a minimum of 30 to 40 min, start with 10 if you have not been doing anything,
and gradually increase 10% per week.
2) Read the labels of all you eat, try to maintain your carbos and sugars intake under 30 g/day for one month, then 40 g on second month, finally 50 g on 3rd month.
3) Eliminate all salt with Sodium and buy Potassium salt, it tastes the same and does not affect your blood pressure.
If the condition persists after you do this for 3 months : GO SEE A DOCTOR.
Good luck with it. Let me know if you have further questions.

Cut salt out of your diet. Exercise and RELAX. If you get worked up about things easily that will work up your blood pressure as well. If you are stressed, de-stress. Easier said than done but it will help. If you are still having problems with it, bite the bullet and go to the doctor. Paying the doctor is better than paying the hospital bill when it becomes so serious you end up there.

Garlic will give you temporary lowered blood pressure. I won't say oat meal but I will say get a variety of fiber back in your diet. And slow down on the red meats. Stay away from fast food stores. Remember vegetables and fruits? They still taste good.

A lot depends on what the bottom numbr is. 150 or 140 over what? Cut out all salt, sit or rest when you start feeling it's getting high. I think you cannot afford to not go to a doctor.

hi,
Some of the home remedies for high blood pressure are:
* Take about 25-30 curry leaves and make a juice, using 1-cup water. You can even add on limejuice to it for making it tastier. Strain and drink it in the morning.
* Take 1 tsp honey, 1 tsp ginger juice and 1 tsp cumin powder and mix them well. Have this mixture at least two times in a day.
* You can also take 100 gm melon seeds and 100 gm poppy seeds (khus-khus) and powder them. Store the powder in a clean container and consume 1 tsp with water morning and evening.

Try a supplement marketed thru MLM. It has a 30-day money back guarantee on retail price. If it works, then join as a member and start selling to earn consumption for free.
My bp used to be 130/90. With the use of the supplements, it has now been consistent at 110/80.
Write me at jade_flowershop@yahoo.com about it.

it all depends on your lifestyle. Oatmeal is a great source to help you cure your high blood pressure, but it's just many of the small steps. You need to start being comfortable with yourself, eat healthier, exercise, and be happy. By eating healthy, try going with meals with alot of fiber, less sugar and salts. Eat alot of greens and fruits. Most importantly drink alot of water, since 70 percent of your body is water. Stop eating red meat and foods with high cholesterol, and you will be fine.

go easy on salt & spices. salt is one of the main cause of high blood pressure(use less than 1500mgs per day). use pomegranate juice or paste or actual fruit.drink lots of water, cut away down on coffee & caffeine products. also, avoid heavy excercise. You’ll need to eliminate bacon, hot dogs and processed meats, as well as frozen dinners, pizza, canned soups, etc. Buy low or reduced sodium foods instead. also Yoga will help . hope u get better soon.
