For the past year I have been dating a man who is 9 years older than me. There is one problem with this relationship though. I am seventeen and he is 26. We are the perfect couple and plan on getting married in the next few years. As of febuary 13, my father has decided to put a restraining order out for him on my behalf. He believes that is is a negitive influence in my life and the cause of all my rebelion. I see why he thinks this, but this is not the truth. The truth in it all is that he is afraid of me growing up and not being what he wants me to be.
The restraining order is not yet gone into effect because it has not been served to my boyfriend. This will damage his life for any of his work with children. This has literally brought both of us to tears and brought out emoutions that most people will never feel.

One thing that is very major between us is that we have not have any type of sex and have decided that it would be best that we did not until we are married. This relationship is not about any type of sex, but the conection between two people that care about eachother.

whatever you do dont dis-respect your father, whatever you think boyfriends come and go, you father - or though you may not like him interferring and some may say he's wrong to interfer is trying to protect his daughter as he can see something that you cant, im sure its not a matter of trying to keep you from having a boyfriend or afraid of you growing up, I bet deep down he's though abouth this for along time and has been genuinely upset and concerned for you. You may not like what he has done, and it might well be seen by some as over bearing or over protective, but to him you are the most precious thing in the world and he doesnt want you to be hurt. Talk to him alone and spen some time with him, speak calmly and he'll tell you alot more about how he feels. dont hurt him by rebelling, talk to him

Well technically he can do this because you are a minor, but he is being unfair! Our society frowns upon such relationships and it is a shame, especially if the girl is 17 almost 18. Many celeberties have had wives who were not 18. Elvis presly and Jerry Lee Lewis are two that come to my mind. Your father views your boyfriend as a sex predator. This is a sensitve subject with many different opinions.

If you were 13 I would hate the guys guts, but your 17, almost 18 and that is a gray area. Your almost an adult.

What I would do is disobey your father. He is trying to prevent you from seeing him and hopes you will loose interest in your boyfriend. Do whatever you can do to see him without getting him in trouble. Sneak out, meet somewhere, a relationship still can happen. Tell your father you have to study with your girlfriends at the library. Have a friend pick you up and drop you off, that way he doesn't suspect anything.

If you really love this guy no matter what your father does don't stop seeing him, don't give into your father. Show your father you are a women and can make your own decisions, you are 17 almost 18. This is your life, not your fathers. Hang in there until you turn 18 then your free and your boyfriend can't be put in jail for being in a relationship with you.

As your criminal father or mom, your dad can ask a decide to place a restraining order on your boyfriend. regardless of the undeniable fact that, that does no longer mean the decide will granted. they are actually not only granted every time all people asks. the actual ingredient he would could exhibit is that your boyfriend provides and instantaneous and drawing close probability on your protection, which he does not seem to. of direction, your Dad ought to lie or exaggerate. some thing you additionally should choose is the criminal age of consent on your state. In some states that's sixteen, no longer 18, and in a super sort of states whether you're under age in the adventure that your boyfriend is interior of three years of age having intercourse isn't statutory rape. with the flexibility to legally have intercourse must be extensive in the determination of no count if or no longer your dad would have the flexibility to get a restraining order.

How long have you been together? You should listen to your father. That's quite a big age difference. 26 year old men generally aren't interested in someone so young unless it's just for sex. He might tell you that he wants to marry you someday, but you shouldn't believe it. If you've been together long enough to know you want to get married, that means you would have been 15 or 16 when you got together, and he would have been 24 or 25. This fact makes him scum. He shouldn't be able to work with children.

I know its frustrating to hear a lot of people say you shouldn't be with this guy because of his age, but it can work. The only thing you can do in the mean time is wait. Work on your relationship with him anyway and continue to see if this is the guy you want to be with. Then, if everything is still ok, and the order is lifted or you turn 18, you can be able to say what an obsticle you overcame to be with this guy.
