I ran a Handyman Business for several years. I found the internet also to be unreliable and not very cost effective. I printed off a bunch of cards which had my web address included and dropped some cards off at local Real Estate and Hardware Stores. I also found that a small ad, 2 to 3 lines that's all, in the local paper, in the classifieds got good results but you need to have it in every week, the Saturday edition got the best results. Another thing I did was to do a letterbox flier once a month about 1000 homes and keep track of the streets done. The internet, I found, supported credibility more than anything. Doing good work and encouraging customers to refer people generated, by far, the most business. I hope this helps.

Ever heard of Freecycle? There should be one in your area. Use the link below to find your local Freecycle group and register with your Yahoo ID. Freecycle is dedicated to keeping good stuff out of landfills. Rather than dump good stuff in the garbage people simply it give away.

You register for Freecycle, watch the 'OFFERED' items or place 'WANTED' notices, go get the items, and then sell the best items on ebay. As the items are free the costs are just your time (weekends), fuel (during pick-up) and the ebay / Paypal fees. The buyer pays the postage costs. The rest is profit. It's a neat money making hobby.

The trick to being successful is to do some research on ebay hot items and then pick out several niches, then work them over repeatedly on Freecycle. Try specific items such as electronics.

Definately ebay!

If you go along the route of pile it high, sell it cheap (like ASDA etc), you should be on a winner.

I know of people who've gone through charity shops and bought designer clothing cheaply then sell them on Ebay and made £2k in a year.

Have a look at what I am involved in.

hey wish I knew the answer (if there is one) its on here already but I´ll say it any ways.... ebay, bet u got some junk in ur house u could do with getting shot of?! Like old clothes, shoes etc? may only make little money but it all adds up.. and ppl buy anything off ebay.. like pet rocks!!
