My iPod doesn't put all of my songs on it.?

In iTunes, I have my iPod selected to the setting that automatically syncs all of my music. The only problem is that it doesn't. I don't understand why this is happening. The only solution that I have found is to manually put the music on. Unfortunatly, this takes longer and then my iPod says "Do Not Disconnect" for so much longer.
Does anyone know what to do?

make sure you have all your songs check and that you don't have your ipod only syncing playlists.
