It's very common. I work in a college counseling center now and we always see an increase in visits after midterms. Its a combination of things. Its the stress of increasing school demands. Its midterms and concerns about picking up your grades before finals. Its homesickness. Some students may have problems with friends who are also having problems. A lot of people start to question their ability to complete their degree or program (like you). While it may not be directly related to school, classes may be a contributing factor.
Most colleges have counseling centers in which you can talk to someone confidentially for free. Maybe you should look into it.

Yes! It's hard getting through college. I'm a double major and I've been in school forever and I know how it is. It gets stressful at the half-way point in each semester because of all the work you realize you need to finish up, and you eventually get bummed out because it gets a tad overwhelming. College is hard and that's why it's so rewarding when you actually complete it. I just heard somewhere that only 28% or 38% of students graduate every year. That's pretty low considering more and more people go to school today. Try not to give in to those feelings and realize that you're not the only one feeling that way. Its tough, but you can do it. It will be an awesome accomplishment that no one can ever take away from you. GOOD LUCK!

Yes...

Depression naturally follows times of great output and achievement.

You push very hard to pass mid-terms, almost to the extent of being myopic, and every once if your energy and pride get wrapped up in it.

When mid-terms are past, it's very difficult to match that same level of being wired, so you revert to the mundane world of everyday homework, and you find yourself very unsettled with the way your life is going...normal.

Increase activity, go to bed early again, stay away from the junk foood you ate while you were cramming, and you should be fine within 21 days.

However, you do need to go to the student health center, just to make sure that your care provider agrees with me.
