Yes! As an actor, I can tell you the most difficult thing is a director who speaks in metaphors. We need active verbs to play. Put things in terms of what the actor wants from the other person and how they go about getting it. Objectives and tactics.

Stanislavski, Uta Hagen, and Meisner have very useful techniques that directors can use when working w/actors.

If you have never directed actors, don't do it!

Experienced will be annoyed that you don't know what you're doing and the inexperienced won't know the difference.
