put it in a box with a lot of packaging, probably styrofoam, so that it absolutely cannot move. Then, write fragile all over the box.

i cannot stress the "fragile--do not bend" label enough. the one time i didn't get postal insurance on ebay for a record, the seller didn't mark it, and it showed up with a big crease in the middle, record destroyed.

They sell boxes made just for them. Then send it first class.
