Because its a non-binding resolution. Even if every single senator voted with the democratic senators it still wouldnt give them the power to stop the extra troops from going to iraq. This was nothing but a show to say we disagree with sending the troops. So the 10 republicans that didnt vote probably had something more important to do that to be apart of washington grand standing politics (screaming really loud but getting nothing done).

The vote was not worth leaving the men's room let alone speaking engagements that paid hard cash. The dummycrats have found another way of wasting taxpayers money and getting microphone time. Too bad the country has to put up with do nothing leadership in congress. Pelosi needs to start doing positive things instead of wasting time grandstanding.

Pure fear. They are caught between a rock and a hard place. The folks that voted for them want the war to end, but the Pres is pressuring them for vote against the resolution. So the cowards took a pass. They will probably be voted out in the next election.

Politicians are more afraid of losing than doing the right thing. The war is losing popularity so they are running. There is no right and left side of the aisle for cowardice. This is why we can't win a war anymore. Politicians don't have the guts that our soldiers have.

They didn't because it left them in a place where they aren't for or against the resolution.
They are waiting to see which way the political winds blow and they will explain themselves in whichever way shows them better to their base.
Ironically it a tactic taken straight from the Clinton left wing playbook.
They are attempting to beat the Democrats at their own game though it may backfire.

I can't speak for the other 9, but John McCain skipped the vote so he could campaign for President.

They feel as if they are not getting paid enough, so they decided to sit out the vote until they give themselves a pay raise.
